State Fire Department Aid
When a fire department has been in existence in Minnesota for one year it may file a certificate setting forth that fact on or before October 31, with the state insurance department. The name of the municipality is thereupon placed on file, and after the fire insurance companies have all paid the tax of two per cent of their fire insurance premiums collected in the village, the state treasurer sends a check for the amount to the Firemen’s Relief Association, if there is one, or to a city official.
