Spader, Gamewell Veteran Retires
John M. Spader, for 51 years with the Gamewell Company, retired in June. One of the most widely known and esteemed sales engineers of the company, he started with Gamewell in 1902, when J. W. Stover (great uncle of Frank Stover) was president. Following five years as shipping clerk, in New York City, he became outside contractor under Charley Berst and L. E. Lowry, both since retired, operating out of Pittsburgh. In 1912, he was located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with the Canadian agency, Northern Electric Co.
In 1917 Spader was called to New York to represent the company in seven eastern states. In 1930 he was placed in charge of all Gamewell sales in Eastern Pennsylvania and part of New York State, including Long Island and the County of Westchester. He continued in this territory until his retirement this year.
