SEATTLE APPROPRIATIONS.
The estimate allowed by finance committee of Seattle, Wash., city council for expenses of the fire department for 1905, is $196,724, of which $132,374 is for salaries; $9,900, for new apparatus; $6,000, for new hose; $6,700, for maintaining and extending the fire alarm system; and $19,000 for new engine houses For the water department the estimated expense is $,375,000. These figures were allowed by the council on November 28, and the tax rate was made fourteen mills.
