BOOK NOTICE.
The Eastman Art Album containing ninety-six pages has been received. It is a complete and instructive book on firefighting improvements. Each page is an object lesson in itself, showing the actual work that this new system has brought out by photographs from nearly a hundred different cities from Maine to Texas. No more convincing proof could be given of the tremendous stride that has been recently made for improving the fire service. This fine collection of photographs will no doubt be preserved in the library of every fire company that is fortunate enough to receive the book. It is sent free by addressing Samuel Eastman & Co., Concord, N. H.
At Crowley, La., a fire of mysterious origin destroyed one set of stables, a livery stable, a blacksmith shop and a paint shop, together with a number of horses. The loss, only halt insured, was $12,000.
