“QUICK-AS-WINK” SUCTION-COUPLINGS.
Fire Marshal Paige, of Joliet, I11. is quite happy over the success of his venture with “Quick-as-Wink” couplings on the suction of his fire engines. He says he put the couplings on his two engines in July last and that he has been using them ever since. He thinks them the greatest invention of the age for suction-hose, as today one man can make the connection with the hydrants it used to take four men to do and took them ten times as long “Quick-asWink" couplings, by a late improvement can now be made to work as well on suction as on pressure-hose. If then by the use of “Quick as-Wink” couplings on four, five, or six-inch suction-hose there can be as much gain in time and convenience as is claimed for that coupling over the common ones on two and a half inch hose, other towns than Joliet would do well to give the new style of suction “Quick-as-Wink” a trial.
