OBITUARY
Daniel J. Kennedy
Daniel Joseph Kennedy, works manager of the Kennedy Yalve Company, died unexpectedly on Thursday. June 19, at 2:30 o'clock at the St. Joseph Hospital. Elmira, N. Y., after a few hours’ illness. Death was due to acute ptomaine poisoning, which is thought to have been caused from food Mr. Kennedy had eaten the previous evening. Daniel J. Kennedy was born August 5, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs Daniel Kennedy, Sr., at Brooklyn. He attended schools of that city and the preparatory school affiliated with the Brooklyn Polytechnic School. At the age of 18 years the decendent's family removed to t. oxsackle on the the Hudson, where the Kennedy Valve Company established a large plant. Mr Kennedy went to New York City, where he was given selling experience for this company. The Kennedy Valve Company removed its plant to Elmira in 1908 and Mr. Kennedy came here as one of the heads of the corporation. He proved successful in the direction of the plant and subsequently gained promotion to works manager. Mr. Kennedy and Miss Kathryn L. Landy, of Elmira, were married November 29, 1911. hour children were born, Gerald, Charles, Lawrence and Patricia, all of whom survive him. The funeral was held at the Kennedy family home. 359 West Church street, Saturday, June 21, at 8 a. m., and at the SS. Peter and Paul Church at 9 o'clock. Burial in the SS. Peter and Paul cemetery.
