The large grist mill of the J. C. Shipes Co., at Eastman, Ga., was completely, destroyed by fire at an early hour on the morning of July 23. The cause of the fire could not be learned and the loss is estimated at about $12,000. Insurance was carried on the mill and it will be rebuilt at once. Nearby property was endangered for a time, but the good work of the Eastman fire department saved it.
