The Lockport paid firemen have petitioned for the raising of their salaries from $60 to $65 per month.
At Buffalo, on the night of March 10, Norman E. Mack’s costly home on Delaware avenue was practically destroyed by fire. A gale, blowing 64 miles an hour, made hard work for the firemen. The fire started in the servants’ quarters on the third floor. The roof fell in a few minutes afterwards. The second floor was also burned out, as was Mr. Mack’s fine library. The loss is about $50,000.
