New High Pressure Area for Brooklyn.
A new area of high water pressure will be added to Brooklyn by the first of October, it was announced at the Department of Water Supply, Gas and Electricity, and at all one-alarm fires in the new district only one engine will be required. This new district will comprise all of that section lying between Thirty-ninth street. Van Brunt street. Prospect Park and Flatbush avenue. At the Water Department office it was said that the work of installing the new hydrants and watermains, when they were needed, and the pumping stations, was practically completed. The construction of tht Fourth avenue subway is causing some delay. There are seven points which are waiting for the completion of the subway roof, so that a crossing over can he made. Once this is done, little else remains to be accomplished. There are at present two of these high-pressure areas in operation in Brooklyn. One comprises all the section west of the navy yard, bounded by the Fast river, the bay and Flatbush avenue. The other section is at Coney Island.
