New England Waterworks Association. Meeting.
The last monthly meeting of The New England Waterworks association was held on Wednesday last at the Hotel Brunswick, Boston. There was the usual large attendance present, and much interest was taken in the proceedings. There cannot be any doubt as to the popularity of these meetings, and the secretary and president are to he congratulated upon the success which has attended their efforts during the winter months. Mr. Robert E. Thomas, the new pre-idem of the association, presided and Mr. \ illard Kent, secretary, was present in his official capacity. After luncheon the secretary read the applications for new members, and the applicants were duly elected. Following this business, the papers for the day were taken up. The discussions which followed their reading lasted the full time of the afternoon and proved to be very interesting from the number of those who took part in them. The papers read were: “The Ludlow filters,’’ hy Carroll F. Story, civil engineer, of Springfield; "Ground sources of public water supplies” (illustrated). by William S. Johnson, sanitary and hydraulic engineer, of Boston; “New York water supply,” by Waldo Smith, chief engineer of the New York board of water supply. The following is a list of those present:
