NATIONAL FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION.

A special dispatch to FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING states that the National Firemen's association's tournament, in which teams from twelve States were reorcsented, began on August 24 at the St. Louis Exposition ground. It is intensely spectacular and full of instruction. It was preceded by a grand parade through the principal avenues of the World’s Fair. In the Hall of Congress at the closing session of the convention of the association, of which George C. Holt, of Kansas City. Mo., chief of the Fair fire department, was president for the year, the following officers were elected: President. J. D. McNeill, of Fayettesville, X C.; senior vicepresident. C. M. Chaim. Bushnell. Ill.: secretary. P. D. McCarty. St. Louis: treasurer, J A. Schicke. Beatrice. Neb.; corresponding secretary. L. B. Lookabill. Roanoke. Va.: national organiser. B. F. Staymates. Clinton, Ill. Honorary vicepresidents were also elected to represent the several States composing the association.

O11 the ground that the water front in South Brooklyn may he amply protected from fire. Deputy hire Commissioner Doyle, of the Brooklyn division the New York city fire department, has recommended to the department a change in the berth of the fire boat Seth Low from the foot of Main street to the foot of Forts-second street. Brooklyn, in tlie immediate vicinity of the extensive Rush warehouses. The recommendation, it is understood, has been approved by the fire commissioner in Manhattan.
