N.B.F.U. Issues Report on South Amboy Disaster
Calling attention to the growing danger of port explosions as the shipment of military supplies to various parts of the world increases, the National Board of Fire Underwriters recently released its engineering report on the South Amboy, N. J. .munitions exposion. This disaster occurred May 19, 1950, with a death toll of 31, and a property loss estimated at more than $7,500,000.
Recommendations are made in the report which are intended to prevent such port explosions and reduce confusion such as followed the South Amboy blast.
