Louisiana Inaugurates State Training Program

The 1963 Louisiana Legislature appropriated funds for the establishment at Louisiana State University of a statewide fire training program. It will be administered by the General Extension Division. With funds now available it is planned to offer itinerant training in the fire departments of the state.

On October 1, 1963, two instructors were employed by LSU. They are Carrol L. Herring, formerly a captain in the Baton Rouge Fire Department, and George M. Martinsen, who resigned as Assistant State Fire Marshal of Alaska to take the position.
