Nearly all the citizens of Syracuse, Kan., have signed a petition to the mayor and city council asking that a special election be called to vote bonds to put in a municipal waterworks.
A special water rate commission, of Oakland, Cal., has submitted a voluminous report to the city council, recommending a reduction by the People’s Water Company on the water rates charged, and that the consumers install modern plumbing, and the company give at least a two weeks’ notice where a change is intended to be made from the flat to the meter rate.
