In venturing to present a paper to this convention 1 cannot but feel that the invitation is far more flattering to me than likely to he productive of benefit to this honorable body, any member of which 1 feel sure would be far more capable than myself of securing a respectful hearing for a question of the most vital interest to every serious minded person in the country—-I refer to the subject of demolition as a factor in fighting fires of great area.
The lines on which future firefighting are to he conducted arc quite well known, but progress is slow, and it may be well that I confine my re marks to this one subject—a matter which lias by no means been accorded the consideration which it rightly deserves.
