Jersey City Sues For Pure Water.
A suit in Chancery has been begun by Jersey City, N. J., against the Jersey City Water Supply company. The direct issue for the present will be the purification of the Rockaway river, from which Jersey City gets its water supply. Before the hearing ends it is stated that the water company will put on the stand men that made experiments to purify the water of the Rockaway river with chlorine. Both Jersey City and the water company may bring to court dozens of men that will endeavor to qualify as experts. The endeavor in the present hearing will be to determine how much it will cost to purify the Rockaway river. After the court of Chancery hands down a decision on the cost, the water company will either do the work itself or deduct the awarded price from what Jersey City will pay for its waterworks.
