Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties Firemen

The nineteenth annual convention, parade and tournament of the Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties, N. Y„ Firemen’s Association, was held at Potsdam, June 3 and 4, with 300 delegates in attendance. It was a success in every detail. Fred E. Baum, of Potsdam, president of the Association, presided. John P. Powers, treasurer of the State Firemen’s Association, spoke for the Firemen's Home at Hudson, and in part said that there was not a firemen now an honorably discharged fireman in the state in destitute circumstances. The usual contribution to the endowment fund of the home, now amounting to $25,000, was made by the Association. Resolutions were adopted on the death of Chief Fred Morrison of Watertown. The officers elected ere: President. R. J. Hale of Watertown: vice-president, G. L. Sheard, Norwood; secretary, George B. Schwartz, Thereasa, and treasurer, J. M. Ripley, Adams. The parade and contests, of which there were many, were all successfully carried out, and the usual number of false alarms were rang in. The meet next year will be held at Clayton.
