INTERNATIONAL FIRE TOURNAMENT.
Chief Foley, of Milwaukee, Wis., is one of a committee of four appointed at the Indianapolis meeting of fire chiefs last year to arrange for a series of contests at the St. Louis fair, open to all companies in the world. The question of an international tournament will he discussed at the New York meeting of the chiefs in September.
During June the Boston protective department had 167 calls, thirty-seven for fires whose causes were “unknown”; nine, spontaneous combustion; the remainder front minor causes. Loss on insured buildings, $18,473.03; on uninsured buildings, $1,540; on contents (insured), $47,466.41 ; on uninsured contents, $4423.32.
