INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTRICIANS.

The International Association of Municipal Electricians, president, Walter M. Petty, of Rutherford, N. held its annual convention at Erie, Pa., August 23, 24, 25. There was quite a large attendance of electricians from different parts ot the continent, including Canada. The convention met in the assembly hall at the Reed house. Many ladies accompanied the delegates, The convention was opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. Ellis, of the First Methodist church, and the members were welcomed to the city by Mayor Saltsman, whose address was responded to by J. B. Yeakle, of Baltimore, first vicepresident of the association In President Petty’s address were offered suggestions as to the means of increasing the membership of the association and adding to its value, The paper of the convention which most concerns the readers of this journal was one by William Brophy, of Boston, on “Suggested improvements in fire alarm telegraph improvements,” It wis an able paper and shall appear in the columns of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING at the earliest opportunity. Another interesting paper (all were interesting and practical) was that of C. E. Diehl, of Harrisburg, Pa., on “The advisability or inadvisability of fusing fire and police telegraph boxes.” l’he officers elected for tiie ensuing year were as follows: President, Joseph Murphy. Cleveland; first vicepresident, William Crane, Erie; second vicepresident. II. K Allensworth, Columbus; third vicepresident, B A, Biakov, Montgomery, Ala.; fourth vice-president, C. A. Cambridge. Winnipeg, Man ; secretary, Erank P Ei-ster. Cornell, N. V. (re-elected) ; treasurer, C. E Diehl. Harrisburg. T’lte next place of meeting will be New Haven, Conn. T’lte success of the convention was due in great measure to the indefatigable exertions of Secretary Foster.
