Salt Lake City, Utah.—Louis C. Kelsey, city engr., is reported to have filed annual report with Mayor John S. Bransford, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the following are among the improvements recommended; City acquire all water rights in Big Cottonwood, Little Cottonwood and Mill creek, which can be acquired at a reasonable price; city acquire right to enlarge and use East Jordan canal to convey city's portion of water from Utah lake; a filtration plant be constructed in connection with present water supply system: a distributing reservoir of a capacity of 10.000,000 gal. be constructed above Mount Olivet cemetery, to be used in connection with Big Cottonwood water supply; a reservoir of at ieast 5,000,000gal. capacity be constructed near high-line intake in City "creek canon; that proposed storage reservoir be constructed near the forks in Parley's canon; a system of storm sewers for relieving city of flood waters; an automatic registering weir in Parley's creek immediately below reservoir: an automatic registering weir in City creek below the brick tank; repair and maintenance of macadam pavements which are being constructed; all stone block pavement on street intersections be replaced with asphaltum: an electrical power plant be constructed by Canal companies for operation of Utah lake pumping plant; dead ends in present waterworks system be connected; automatic flushtanks be constructed at all dead ends in present sewer system: bulkheads be constructed across City creek just below screen at brick tank; a conduit from screens to brick tanks in City creek canon to take place of present wooden flume; to extend water mains through blocks in business district and hydrants for fire protection; to construct reinforced concrete culvert and dividing station in the Jordan and Salt Lake City canal on 12th S. street before opening of irrigation season, and construct a concrete floodwater bypass in Parley's canon.
