Hoboken Short of Water.
Hoboken, N. J., has approached about as nearly to a water famine as possible and not go completely “dry.” It derives its water supply from the Hackensack Water Company, but since the latter’s supply has been dangerously low, Hoboken has been furnished by the Jersey City Water Company. A few days ago the latter company intimated that it proposed to discontinue serving Hoboken, whereupon Superintendent French, of the Hackensack Company asked that such decision be rescinded. He said:
“We were surprised that your board should send such a communication. Your board has taken the position that you have an abundance of water at Boonton. Furthermore, the Hackensack Water Company has assisted Jersey City on many occasions when Jersey City was in trouble. We think that your board ought to reconsider its action in view of all the facts in the case.”
