La Crosse is wrestling at the present time with the problem as to how best to improve its water supply, and an underground source of supply has been strongly recommended.
At the request of the superintendent of the Hamilton, O., city waterworks an analysis of the water supply was made by the Ohio State Board of Health with the following reassuring information in regard to same; "After chemical and bacterial analysis of samples of water collected to ascertain the cause of algae tastes, the Ohio Health Department finds that supply is of satisfactory quality from a sanitary standpoint and one safe for domestic consumption. Aside from the growths in the reservoir the water has no objectionable characteristics.”
