GEORGE H. FENKEL.

George H. Fenkel, C. E., who, as has already been mentioned in these columns, has been appointed to succeed Clarence W. Hubbell as civil engineer to the board of water comissioners of Detroit, Mich., will enter upon his duties in that city on January I, 1908, on which day Mr. Hubbell resigns in order to go out to Manila, P. L., on his appointment by the Federal Government to the charge of that city’s water plant. Mr. Fenkel, who is an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, at present holds the position of civil engineer to the water commission of Erie, Pa. This office he has held for five years, and during that time many improvements in the waterworks system have been made under his supervision, and some that he has planned are still to be carried out. Previous to his being appointed to his position at Erie, Mr. Fenkel had served under Mr. Hubbell as principal assistant engineer to the civil engineer of the Detroit waterworks. He is, therefore. no stranger to the important work that lies before him in that city.
