Damrell insists that the laws as to fireproofing shall be carried out to the letter, otherwise sham fireproof structures may be run up which endanger the safety of those adjoining them, So throughly is the work of inspection performed by the building department that it is claimed (probably with justice), that there is no city in the United States in which fireproof construction so closely approximates to the theoretical ideal of what this construction should be as in Boston.
