More than a dozen people escaped an early morning fire that tore through two three-story wood-framedwellingson Bayview Avenue February 7 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Second- and third alarms were quickly transmitted as flames extended from one building to another, seriously damaging two and damaging a third two-story wood-frame dwelling. As conditions began to deteriorate, a防御性攻击was ordered, plus a fourth-alarm was struck by Deputy ChiefMike Terpak.
The members of Tower Ladder 4 managed to get their platform up between overhead power and service lines in front of the fire building. In addition, Ladder 12 set up in a vacant lot off of MLK Drive and set up aladder pipeto attack the rear of the buildings, which was heavily involved.
Flying embers and low-banking smoke covered the neighborhood, including the Hudson County extension of the NJ Turnpike.Icequickly formed on the streets, creating an additional hazard for firefighters.
Two firefighters suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and were transported to Jersey City Medical Center. The Red Cross was notified to set up accommodations for 14 adults and four children. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire department’s investigation unit.
