Fire Protection in Small Villages.
The Baltimore Herald of a recent date contained an article upon the above subject in which it is treated so comprehensively and sensibly that we reproduce it below, as follows:
Everybody remembers the conflagration which visited Pokomoke City and nearly destroyed the town. On Wednesday night good fortune and the efforts of its citizens saved Laurel from a similar fate. As it was, five buildings were burned and property to the amount of $2000 went up in smoke. This is a serious loss to a small place, but one which may overtake almost any town in Maryland at any time.
