Eight assistant chiefs have been promoted by Chief T. A. Myers of the Dallas, Texas, fire department as the first step toward the reorganization of the department. Second Assistant Chief C. O. Jones has been promoted to first assistant chief and given full jurisdiction over all fire stations in Oak Cliff. As a result of Chief Jones’ promotion to first assistant chief all the other assistant chiefs take one step upwards in rank. J. C. Marder, the only first assistant chief, will retain his title and stands next in rank to Chief Myers over all the department districts. At present the city is divided into three districts, Oak Cliff, Fair Park, and the central portion of the city. It is planned to create a fourth district in North Dallas when the need arises.
