FIRE ENGINES FOR WATERTOWN.
A dispatch from Watertown, N. Y., says; “An order was given last week for one second-size Metropolitan steam fire engine at $5,492, including some small repairs to anotner engine. Also for one first-size Metropolitan, which is to be presented to the city of Watertown by Mrs. J. B. Taylor, daughter of former Governor Flower. This engine will be the most powerful firefighter and the finest finished engine in the world, and the citizens are greatly pleased at the prospect of having two such pieces of apparatus. The price of Mrs. Taylor’s engine was $5,000. An investigation has been carried on for some time into the merits of various fire engines, which were offered both to the city of Watertown and Mrs. Taylor at prices ranging from $5,500 to $5,000. and the Metropolitan was chosen because of its recognised standard of merit. The citizens of Watertown are justly proud to have become the owners of two such beautiful engines.
