FIRE DEPARTMENT BIDS OPENED
Contracts have been awarded by the board of public works at San Diego, Cal., for a hook and ladder truck to the Seagraves company, and for a third-size steamer, a second-size steamer and 8,500 ft. of 2 1/2-in. cotton rubber hose to the Nott Engine company.
The Eureka Fire Hose company has received a contract from the city of Beaumont, Tex., for 2,000 ft. of hose at $2,000. At St. Paul, Minn., bids were received on March 2 for steam fire engine boiler and rebuilding engine and pumps from the following firms: American-La France Fire Engine company, Elmira, N. Y.; the Ahrens Fire Engine company, Cincinnati, Ohio; Nott Fire Engine company, Minneapolis, Minn., and the N. W. Electric and Equipment company, St. Paul, Minn. Two bids have also been submitted by the St. Paul Rubber company, local, for 5,000 ft. of White Anchor rubber hose at $6,500 and 5,000 ft. of Eureka 4-ply, cotton hose at $5,500
