Fire and Flood at Augusta.

Fire at Augusta, Ga., caused a loss of over $90,000. The reecnt floods the slacking of lime set fires in two grocery warehouses, in one of which the lime was inside the building; in the other, outside. A less severe fire from the same cause occurred shortly afterwards, and in each case the firemen could not save the burning buildings, because the apparatus could not be brought upon the scene. The floods swamped many of the fire alarm boxes and put them out of commission. Each box so affected had to he thoroughly dried out. Except where the electrical wiring for the electric lighting system passed through basements that were wholly or partially filled with water, it was in fair condition, as were, also, the fire hydrants, with one or two exceptions.
