EUREKA FIRE HOSE COMPANY FIRE BRIGADE.
The Eureka Fire Hose company recently organised a factory fire brigade for the protection of its large plant at Jersey City, N. J. The company has issued a book of Rules and Regulations for its governance. The organisation is to consist of a chief, fire marshal, engineer, and six battalions, with a hose company, hook and ladder company, salvage corps, and the entrance guards. All officers of the brigade, including the foreman of the hose companies, are required to become familiar with every valve and to know how to shut off the sprinkler system at a moment’s notice; also how to cut out yard piping in case of a break and to shut off gas or electric current from any section. In this set of rules are contained considerable data of interest to manufacturers generally, and the publication, as a whole, is a model one.
