Engineering Association of the South.

THE annual meeting of the Engineering Association of the South was held at its headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., November 8, at 8 o’clock P. M. William H. Schuerman, dean of the faculty of engineering of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., and W. K. Gibson, engineer of the Dayton Coal and Iron Company, Dayton. Tenn., were elected to membership. An invitation from the secretary of the Associated Engineering Societies to become a member of that body was received and referred to the board of directors.

An amendment to the constitution was considered, extending the membership so as to admit “any officer of a railroad, canal or other public work, or of a mine, metallurgical w:>rks, manufacturing establishment or technical industry, or of a technical school or journal, who from his scientific acquirements or practical experience in engineering in any of its various branches, or in chemistry or metallurgy, has attained eminence in his specialty,” and to admit as an associate any person interested in any branch of engineering, chemistry or metallurgy who wants to avail himself of the privileges granted associates. It was ordered that the amendment be submitted to letter ballot, to be canvassed at the next meeting.
