Electricity and Water Pipes.

Electricity and Water Pipes.

EDITOR Fire and Water:

About twelve or fifteen months ago our street railway system was changed from mule power to that of electricity, since which time we are having so many leaks in service pipes under the electric railway track that I am led to believe that the electricity has something to do with these numerous leaks, though the wires under the tracks do not come in contact with the pipes. We use iron and lead pipes for service, galvanized iron principally, and many of these give out inside of one year, and some have given out inside of three months, and in every instance under the railway track, which fact leads me to believe that the electricity is responsible for the trouble, though I am not able to explain why. I would like to know if any of my water-works brothers are having or have had any trouble of this kind. If so, what remedy have they applied to counteract this action. A. H. TUCKER, Superintendent.
