Drought and Preparedness
The unprecedented drought that has affected many parts of the country during the past summer and fall has dried up the vegetation and affected many lines of industry.
One of those to feel the lack of rain most severely has been the water works. Streams, reservoirs and lakes that heretofore have proved ample for furnishing water to communities have failed or nearly failed for the first time this year. Conservation in the use of water has been the order of the day, and many lawns have suffered and many automobiles have gone unwashed through necessary restrictions by the water works.
