部ffalo Firemen Use Amphibious Duwk
Harold R. Becker, Buffalo, N. Y., Fire Commissioner recently announced acquisition of an amphibious “duck” which was refitted by department shops as an auxiliary fireboat.
The Army surplus “duck” was painted red, equipped with flashing lights, siren and pumps fore and aft and christened Engine 29. The craft was fitted with two turret guns which can deliver 1400 gallons a minute. The craft will be used to fight dock fires and city dump fires where water is too shallow for the department boat, the Grattan, to manuever.
