Albion Purchases Water System

Albion Purchases Water System

The village of Albion, N. Y., has effected the purchase of the plant of the Albion Water Works Company, the village paying $100,000 to the company, the estate of G. W. Kipp, of Towanda, Pa. The money was obtained from a bond issue of $165,000 authorized by the taxpayers last spring, the bonds being purchased by a Middle West concern. After the transfer of the plant to the village, Superintendent C. K. Harris, of the Albion Water Works Company, was appointed by the board of trustees as temporary superintendent for the village. The village now has on hand $65,000, which is to be spent for improvements to the system. The plans include the development of the supply from two driven wells south of the village, the construction of a filter plant, etc. Propositions have now been made to improve the Eagle Harbor watershed and develop Otter Creek, instead of developing the two wells.
