A WATER TRUST ?
The National Waterworks and Guarantee company of Pittsburgh and New Jersey, chartered in the latter State with a capital of $1,000,000, to be largely increased later, has started to absorb the water companies supplying many towns and cities in western Pennsylvania. The first deal to be put through has just been completed, when the Latrobe Water company was bought out for $400,000. W. A. Johnston, the manager of the system will retain bis position under the new ownership. Along with the plant the watershed was also purchased and this plan will be followed in all possible cases. The Latrobe company drew its supply front the headwaters of the Loyalhanna, which is pure mountain water. T'he system operated from this watershed will be largely increased and many other towns and hamlets in that vicinity will be given the same pure water supply that Latrobe has had for many years by November 1, as work will begin at once on new pipe lines. The company will absorb a great number of small plants in the same section, some of which have been unable to carry out their contracts with customers, while many have never made any money. The company will make the Latrobe plant one of the completest and most satisfactory in the State. The officers of the company are: H. Wells, director of the First National bank, Scranton; J. D. Stocker, Jenny, Pa., president; William Walker, Philadelphia, vicepresident; and Geoge G. Books, Scanton, Pa., treasurer. The directors are: James W. Liner president of the First National bank, Scranton, Pa.: J. J. Jermyn, Scranton: T. J. Brooks, Scranton: and C. R. Buchhcit, Pittsburgh.
