A NEW NOZZLE.
Heretofore in fire-fighting, no hose nozzle has been in use which would adapt itself to the size and style of a stream of water required to meet the exigencies of the case; and, in order to change from one size of stream to another or from a single jet to a sprinkler, the entire nozzle had to be changed, consuming that time which is so valuable and important at the commencement of a fire. It has been reserved for Mr. William Leggett, of No. 599 East One Hundred and Thirty-sixth street, New York city, who has already produced several nozzles of recognized merit, to solve the problem, and at last bring out a nozzle which seems to be perfect, and to combine in itself such a variety of excellent points as to leave nothing further to be desired.
Mr. Leggett's last and best nozzle will be readily understood by an examination of the accompanying engravings, showing a longitudinal, sectional view through the axis of the nozzle; a front elevation of the distributing,or water-chamber,and a rear view of said water-chamber.
