A NEW JERSEY FIRE BILL.
Senator McCarter, of Essex county, N. J , has introduced the following bill into the Senate of that State under the title of "An act to promote the efficiency and to regulate the promotion of firemen in paid fire departments of this State.” Its provisions are as follows:
That no appointment to any paid fire department in this State, of any person not already employed in said department, shall be made to any position therein of a higher grade than that of hoseman or a grade equivalent thereto in point of compensation.
