A heavy three-alarm fire in a multi-family Dorchester home left 17 people —including three children— without a home and injured twofirefighters, according to theBoston Fire Department.
At around 10:30 a.m., authorities said they responded to the Dorchester fire at 28 Fifield St.
All 17 residents were safely evacuated from the house and were taken to the Red Cross to find housing, the department said.
Officials reported no injuries from the residents.
Two firefighters suffered minor burns while trying to extinguish the flames, authorities said. The two firefighters were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials said the massive fire tore through the majority of the three-story home. Authorities expect the properties damages to be around $500,000.
Authorities are still investigating the scene and the cause of the fire.
