A three-alarm fire swept through an upper Manhattan three-family residence early Friday, injuring 12 firefighters.
More than 150 firefighters from 36 units responded to the fire at 217th Street in Inwood that erupted just before 3 a.m. No residents were injured.
The fire, which took the firefighters more than an hour to extinguish, also knocked out power to part of the block.
Neighbors and witnesses said they heard a loud bang before flames engulfed home, as a manhole in front of the house spewed flames and billowed black smoke.
