Ten people were taken to local hospitals this morning after an extra-alarm fire that spread from one building to two others in the West Side’s Little Village neighborhood, reports The Chicago Tribune.
The injured included four children, but all ten were doing well, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.
“Nothing serious” in terms of injuries, Langford said.
The fire broke out shortly before 4:30 a.m. in a building in the 2300 block of South Kedzie Avenue. Flames quickly spread to buildings directly north and south, prompting fire officials to elevate it to a 2-11 alarm fire as flames spread to nearby buildings.
Firefighters first brought the fire under control in buildings where the flames spread.
