St. Louis firefighters forced entry and rescued a man trapped in a house fire early Wednesday in The Gate District neighborhood, according to reports.
Firefighters kicked in the front door to reach the man, who uses a motorized wheelchair, St. Louis fire Capt. Garon Mosbytold reporters with the St. Louis Dispatch. Crews had to remove the wheelchair to gain access to the victim and remove him.
The man was treated and hospitalized in critical condition. One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury. The fire extended to a neighboring home and did some damage, the report noted.
