A Portland firefighter received a deep leg laceration while fighting a Southeast Portland house fire, reports oregonlive.com
Lt. Damon Simmons, a spokesman for the Portland Fire Bureau, said firefighters were called to the home in the 2800 block of Southeast 103rd Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m.
While battling the fire, a firefighter’s leg was lacerated by a large piece of broken glass, Simmons said. The firefighter was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Simmons said firefighters were hampered in their efforts by excessive clutter inside the home. The cause of the fire and damage estimates have not yet been determined.
Earlier in the day, firefighters also battled a house fire in the 4900 block of Northeast Pacific Avenue.
Simmons said when firefighters arrived they found fire behind a wall near a fireplace in the home’s attic. There was no one home when the fire broke out, but the owner arrived while firefighters were inside.
