Marion (OH) (AP) — A central Ohio woman convicted of firing a shot at a firefighter who was trying to put out a fire in her backyard has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The judge in Marion, about 50 miles north of Columbus, sentenced 43-year-old Sheila Markley on Monday to two years for felonious assault and another three years for using a firearm in the crime.
Police said Markley fired a shot while firefighters were investigating an illegal burn near her house. She said Monday she never intended to hurt or scare the firefighter.
