Several times over the first 10 days, the weather got hotter than predicted with stronger winds than predicted,” Brown said. “That created difficulties in identifying how to best deploy the available firefighting resources. Despite the fire being extinguished, the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning lasting until Wednesday for the North Bay mountains, particularly in northeast Napa County, meteorologist Gerry Diaz said. The warning upgrades a previous fire weather watch, with offshore winds expected to blow from 10 to 25 mph and gust up to 40 mph, the weather service said.
