North Carolina Firefighter Injured in Fall from Roof

A firefighter broke both his ankles after falling from a roof during an apartment fire in Red Springs, North Carolina.

The Red Springs Citizen(http://bit.ly/18Mbp9L) reported that Smith’s Township Firefighter Tony Summers fell nearly 17 feet during firefighting operations at the Robinwood Apartments.

Summers reportedly fell from a ladder that was extended to a gable on the roof of a building, and Red Springs Fire Chief Tim Beasley speculated that mud on his boots may have contributed to the fall.

No residents of the apartment complex were injured in the fire, which began as a grass fire and extended to the structure.
