Milwaukee Firefighters Work Two Fires in Freezing Temperatures

Two fires, two sets of circumstances, and one battalion that withstood the elements to save at least eight people, reports jrn.com (http://bit.ly/1x8FBdM)

Milwaukee firefighters first fought a two alarm fire at a three story brick building near Richards Street and Keefe Avenue. At one point, the wind chill dipped to negative ten degrees.

That building housed as many as four families, but there were only four people inside at the time of the fire. Initial damage estimates are at $375,000.

Later this morning the same MFD battalion responded to a fire near 49th and Lisbon. That fire started on the 2nd floor of the three-story duplex, and remains under investigation.

A police officer labeled the fire “suspicious” and both MFD and MPD arson investigators have visited the site.
