A 77-year-old woman was airlifted to a Birmingham (AL) hospital after she was seriously injured in an afternoon fire in Tuscaloosa County.
Tuscaloosa County sheriff’s deputies and the Violent Crimes Unit responded before 3 p.m. Friday to the residence at 14920 Shiloh Road on a report of a fully involved house fire, said Capt. Jack Kennedy.
The victim told authorities the fire began when she tried to light the pilot light in the oven. She was flown to UAB Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office. No foul play is suspected.
