Fire at Flight 93 National Memorial in Pa. May Have Damaged 9/11 Artifacts

Shanksville, PA–A fire at the Flight 93 National Memorial badly burned four administrative buildings and destroyed some of them Friday, according to the site superintendent. No cause is yet determined.

The fire spread quickly inwindy conditionsto other buildings after beginning in or near asingle-wide trailerthat was used for administrative duties and also had a kitchen, said Jeff Reinbold, superintendent of the National Park Service in Western Pennsylvania, which includes the memorial site.

At least 10pumper trucksand crews from 12 fire departments were needed to extinguish the flames at the memorial site in rural Stonycreek Township, Somerset County. No injuries were reported.
